The Cygnus Loop is a very popular supernova remnant to photograph, and as a supernova remnant hipster, I’ve truly neglected it. So this image was intended to give this object a chance to sing, and it didn’t disappoint.
Despite being very bright, the object is surrounded by faint and delicate filamentary shells, which required a fine touch to display well. Especially in context with the blindingly bright main shock fronts.
