NGC6946: The Fireworks Galaxy

NGC6946 the Fireworks Galaxy is a very bright spiral galaxy on the border of Cepheus and Cygnus. It is 25 million light years away, and is roughly 1/3 the size of our galaxy, but contains half the stars. This active star formation makes it a starburst galaxy, with very bright H-alpha regions.
